90 days, anywhere
Every passage has a story
Pull up the day you crossed and see the wind you fought, the swell that kept you in port, or how that front really came through. Every three hours, across the whole world, for the last 90 days.
- Nine layers
- Wind, Waves, Currents, Sea Temp, Rain, Gusts, Cloud, Air Temp, CAPE: the same layers as Weather Maps, on the same map.
- Learn your waters
- Look back at how the sea breeze filled in or the swell wrapped around the point, and plan the next trip on what really happened.
- Settle the argument
- Was it blowing 25 or 35? Scroll back and look.
Straight to the day
Pick a date, press play
Drag the band along the 90-day strip, or jump straight to a date from the calendar. Seven days load around it, ready to play through three hours at a time.
- ECMWF's own record
- Every frame is the starting point of an ECMWF forecast run: its best estimate of the weather at that moment, on a 25 km grid.
- Measured sea temperature
- Sea Temp replays NOAA's Geo-Polar Blended, the daily satellite measurement, one frame a day.
- Honest about gaps
- Hatching marks any run ECMWF or NOAA didn't publish, so you never mistake a gap for calm.
