What's changed in OceanPulse

Every release on the App Store, newest first. Longer stories live in News.

  1. Version 3.0.0

OceanPulse 3.0 is a complete redesign of the app, focusing on premium weather models, and industry first animated GMDSS announcements - shown directly on the chart.

    New

    • New dashboard shows at a glance weather information, maritime safety alerts, along with quick access to your favorite tools like coastal charts and tides & currents.
    • Industry first AI driven analysis of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System. Typically broadcast via radio & satellite, we perform an analysis of the broadcast and translate to easy to read storm systems show directly on the chart - with the ability to step hour by hour to see how the forecast changes
    • New Ocean Pulse daily summary, a quick summary for the expected conditions broken down by morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight.

    Improved

    • Updated our atmospheric and ocean weather forecast table view, which now shows additional forecast fields like CAPE index, and is grouped by section, for wave, currents, and atmospheric categories.
    • Proud to announce the availability of ECMWF, AIFS, and Copernicus Mercator models. Much of the forecast data from these highly respected models are available without subscription. In fact, wind, gusts, rain, cloud, and air temperature are all now available on our free tier.
    • Completely revamped our forecast map view. You can show wind, waves, currents, rain, gusts, cloud, air temp, and CAPE forecasts on a dedicated animated map.
    • In the new map view, we also launched a split view, allowing you to compare two models for the same field (like wind) side by side, or to compare two different fields (like wind and waves) together.
    • Massively improved the rendering performance of the on map particle effect, the net effect is the animations use minimal CPU & GPU processing, resulting in longer battery life.
    • Rain radar feature has also been updated with a smoother animation while scrubbing and the download time has been reduced by 90% allowing you to see rain radar nearly instantly on device.
    • The tides feature and the tracks list now allow you to sort, group, and pin your favorite stations and important track recordings.

    Fixed

    • Marine forecasts: fixed a bug that could prevent weather data from loading in certain regions.
    • The OceanPulse live activity has been updated to show our logo instead of the stock image.
